How Blitzzio Rankings Work

Blitzzio rewards every type of game on the platform with a points value, then rolls those points up onto four different leaderboards. Beating the in-browser bot earns 1 point, beating a friend in a private match earns 2 points, beating a random opponent in matchmaking earns 3 points, and the daily puzzle pays 1 or 2 points depending on whether you cracked it on the first attempt. Draws and timeouts pay a fraction of those values to keep the board moving even on tough opponents. Your total reflects every match you've ever played on the device.

All-Time, Weekly, Monthly & Yearly

The leaderboard splits into five views. The All-Time tab is your full lifetime score and never resets β€” pure cumulative achievement. Weekly resets every Monday at 00:00 UTC, giving fresh players a clean shot at the top of the chart. Monthly resets on the 1st of each month and Yearly resets on January 1st. The Champions tab keeps a permanent Hall of Fame of every player who finished top-3 on a weekly or monthly board. Recency matters: a strong week can launch a new player into Champions glory regardless of their all-time tally.

Country Leaderboards

Every Blitzzio player picks a country flag when they join. Country totals are aggregated from every player in that country, fueling the live "country-vs-country" theme of the site. If you want to climb the global leaderboard for your country, the fastest way is to play matchmaking games (3 points each) consistently for a few days. A handful of dedicated players can lift a smaller country into the top 10 in a single week.

Fair Play & Anti-Cheat

Blitzzio is meant to be a casual rapid-chess hangout, not a competitive arena. We detect and remove obvious bot abuse, identical-time spam submissions and accounts that submit results without a corresponding match record. Display names containing slurs, hate speech or attempts to impersonate other players are removed. The leaderboard runs on honour-system play with light automated checks β€” please keep it friendly so the rules stay light.

Leaderboard FAQ

Do I need to register to be ranked?
Just enter a display name and pick a country. No email or password required β€” your local device ID handles the rest.
Why didn't my win show up on the leaderboard?
Updates can take a few seconds to propagate. If your score is still missing after a refresh, the submission failed (usually a connection issue) β€” your next match will catch up.
Can I change my country?
Yes, from the homepage. Future games count for the new country; past games stay attached to your previous flag.
What happens to my score if I clear my browser?
The local device ID resets, so future games appear under a new entry. Past scores remain on the board but are no longer linked to your new device.
When do weekly champions get crowned?
Sunday 23:59 UTC closes the week and the top 3 are added to the permanent Champions tab. Monthly champions are crowned at the end of the calendar month.
